Mongolia 6 X 7
“The day I got my first medium-format camera, a second-hand Mamiya RB67, I immediately fell in love with it.
This camera is a real workhorse and because of its heavy weight and its cumbersome size, it is usually kept for work in the studio.
However, that's the camera I chose to take with me on my first trip to Mongolia. And even though this did wretch my back and was a hassle to protect and process the 120 films, I shall never regret it...
This trip was also the first time I would work on street portraits and the magic thing with that camera is you can't "steal" photographs from people. You need to take your time, open the viewfinder and find your way through the right settings.
And by the time this slow process is achieved, a real connection has taken place with the subject.
This is a camera that naturally breathes respect and trust.”
